United Select - U10 to U18

Greencastle United Soccer Club’s - United Select program provides a travel soccer opportunity for players to participate in a competitive youth soccer environment that promotes excellence and sportsmanship. The program builds upon the curriculum of the United Juniors program and is based on U.S. Soccer's Player Development Model which is designed to develop each player technically, tactically, physically, and mentally. The program’s mission is to produce continued enthusiasm for the sport, advance player development as well as nurture life skills.

  • Competition: United Select Teams compete in play outside the club with home matches on GUSC fields and travel to away matches against other travel clubs in the Central Pennsylvania area. Based on the age, abilities and the ambitions of the team there could be travel to local, regional or out-of-state tournaments. See team breakdowns below for more details.

    • United Select Tournament Teams: Older teams may elect to compete in a tournament only formats to accommodate school soccer schedules. Occurs at the teams request & clubs approval.

  • United Select Player Evaluations: Player evaluations are for ALL CURRENT & NEW United Select (U10+) players ONLY!

    • Players participate according to “US Club Soccer Age Band” & Competitive Division.

    • Player evaluations occur in spring (May).

    • Player evaluations are FREE to attend.

    • Teams are formed based on the available players and coaches (not solely on the evaluation process).

    • Players must attend one evaluation session but we highly recommended attending both sessions. Players who attend only one evaluation will still be considered, however, coaches (assessors) may not have a complete picture of the player.

    • Can't make an evaluation date? GUSC will always consider new players if roster space permits and the player is a good fit for the team. Email support@greencastlesoccer.com to set up a player evaluation and learn more about current roster opportunities.

  • United Select Uniforms: Not included in the registration fee. Uniform kits are purchased separately. Kits are subject to change at the discretion of our contract terms (generally every 2-years for Fall season). When teams are formed a link will be sent with instructions how to proceed with ordering kits.

General Information:

  • Location: GUSC Soccer Complex / Antrim Township Community Park / Greencastle-Antrim High School (on occasion)

  • Training: Minimum 1.5-Hour, Two Nights Per Week (Ex: M&W or T&Th)

  • League: Central Pennsylvania Youth Soccer League (CPYSL) - Boys & Girls Divisions

    • Competition: 7-8 Games Per Season (4 Home & 4 Away)

    • Travel within 90-minutes of Greencastle (typical for league play).

  • Playing Time: Players need to attend training session for individual and team development. Playing time is at the discretion of the coaching staff if players are not attending training sessions regularly especially if absences are unexcused. Playing time targets (below):

    • U10: 40-50%

    • U11 to U12: 30-50% (Play is transitioning to earned based on player’s skills, commitment, competition level, game situations, etc.)

    • U13+: 30-40% (Play is transitioning to earned based on player’s skills, commitment, competition level, game situations, etc.)
